Minster Bell Ringers
Cheltenham Minster is one of the very few churches in the country with a ring of 12 bells (plus a practice bell) which were all recast and hung in 2017. Bells are rung regularly each Sunday and during the week.
The National 12-Bell Contest Eliminator was held at The Minster on Saturday 25th March 2023. Read about the day
The Minster Churchyard
In 2022 the churchyard underwent an exciting renovation project in conjunction with Cheltenham Borough Council.
We have been delighted to enjoy the space with the community and host Minster Merriment every December.
Heritage Watch
At The Minster
The Minster is used for regular worship. The churchyard has been partly re-presented through a new landscaping scheme as part of the wider MX project in Cheltenham. The Heritage Watch scheme aims to rejuvenate public use of the Minster Gardens. It is hoped that the new landscaping will encourage visitors to visit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, thereby discouraging anti-social behaviour. The new heritage crime signage can be seen as an extension of this scheme, sharing the same values and messages, and aims to empower the local community and prevent further heritage crime.
See here for further details on the Faculty Application to install the necessary signage for the project.
